Guess I was overthinking things a little. ![]() Lot easier to make a quick escape when you can just blow a samus-sized hole in it with the spwazer-beam. Turns out it's not a glass case that has to be broken with missiles, like MB's. Admittedly, those crumbling blocks during the escape sequence weren't really fair either :-p Is there a reliable way to escape from this room, without having to resort to savestates? There's a glass wall I can break with missiles to the left, but the metroid typically catches me before I can make it out of the room. It then proceeds to suck samus dry and kill her. On the way back through Tourian, after defeating the ghost of Mother Brain (seriously, how friggin' awesome was that?), you run into the classic cutscene where the "super metroid" sucks a sidehopper dry.
